I am a passionate language instructor and have been working with children for over 20 years. I know how to help children learn a foreign language quickly using play-based methods. Every one of my lessons is individualised and fun. I started tutoring children in Mandarin when I moved to Sydney in 2012 to study early childhood education.

 

I also work for LCF Fun Language Club as a Mandarin Teacher at St. Bernard’s Catholic Primary School and Botany Public School (and previously Shore Preparatory College). I teach classes of up to 10 students of varying ages and Mandarin levels.

 

For 14 years I taught English at HESS Language School in Taiwan. HESS trained me to be a professional, creative and strategic language teacher. My work at HESS made me highly skilled at class programming, education material design and classroom management.

 

My early childhood education experience has allowed me to study how children learn, early language acquisition and their social and emotional development. I believe children need sensory stimulation to help them learn new things. Mandarin can be a difficult language for the young to begin learning.  I find a verbal and non-verbal model of speech and cultural experiences can help them through the process. This leads them from receptive to expressive language acquisition onto future syntactical language learners in the future.
